I would like to recommend you a fantastic video and song performed by Rokiczanka, a folk ensemble from a village near Lublin. You can read about them on their website, which has an English version too!
http://www.rokiczanka.pl/_en_index.html

The song is called "W moim ogrodeczku" = "In My Little Garden" and there is a genealogical aspect to it! Laughing
Enjoy!

Polskie kwiaty - Polish Flowers

A song about an immigrant who listens to a "foreign" wind, admires the world but wistfully remembers home, Polish landscapes, field flowers.

1. Śpiewa ci obcy wiatr, zachwyca piękny świat,
Lecz serce tęskni, bo gdzieś daleko stąd,
Został rodzinny dom - tam jest najpiękniej.

Ref.:
Tam właśnie teraz rozkwitły kwiaty:
Stokrotki, fiołki, kaczeńce i maki.
Pod polskim niebem w szczerym polu wyrosły,
Ojczyste kwiaty.
W ich zapachu, urodzie jest Polska.

2. Żeby tak jeszcze raz ujrzeć ojczysty las,
Pola i łąki. I do matczynych rąk
Przynieść z zielonych łąk rozkwitłe pąki.

Ref.: Tam właśnie teraz rozkwitły kwiaty...

3. Śpiewa ci obcy wiatr, tułaczy los cię gna,
Hen, gdzieś po świecie. Zabierz ze sobą w świat,
Zabierz z rodzinnych stron mały bukiecik.

Ref.: Weź z tą piosenką bukiecik kw7atów:
Stokrotki, fiołki, kaczeńce i maki..

There is something in that old villige songs that can be easily catched. I had not chance to hear many vinyls with these songs, but i see even new bands continue this "tradition" Wink of singing about love affairs, about young boy trying do the best to endear a villige girl and how he win or loose and how parents of a girl behave when knowing this, all that in specific way.

I like first song "W moim ogródecku", it so lively. Slav You remembered me time when i was listening another folk band, awards winning: Kapela Ze Wsi Warszawa. Check out "Czerwone Jabłuszko", "Baba w piekle", "Żurawie" or "Zagrajcie muzykanty", "Rybicka".

I was about to post a message about this wonderful Polish Folk Group Rokiczanka, a folk ensemble from a village near Lublin - and I found that Slav already mentioned them back in 2012. Please take a moment to enjoy their upbeat music. Their videos are made in costume and on location with old cottages and villages that make me think of how my ancestors lived.

They have their own facebook page and you can easily find their music on YouTube - just search Rokiczanka.

Hi, I have my grandfathers birth records, hand written from the Plock archive of 1895. Is anyone familiar with the language of the time, as I note that at the time the area was Russian / Polish. Many thanks Steve.

Hi Steve,

Look for the Russian translation forum on this website, post images of the records you have, and request a translation.

Best,
Cynthia
