Post subject: Researching Jerzy Buczko from Zielnowo
Hello, I have been researching mine and my partner's family history for 5 years now. Having got back far with other lines, I have now turned to tracing my partner's Polish ancestry of which we know very little. His grandfather moved to the UK after the end of WW2 - his name was Jerzy Buczko although he anglicised his first name to George. We know from his naturalisation documents that his father was Josef and his mother, Marta, and that he was born in Zielnowo, Poland. Other than this, we know nothing. Could I please have some advice about where to start?
Using mapa.szukacz.pl, I found three places in Poland named Zielnowo. Records are online in from the archives in Poland if they are over 100 years old. You much know which place it was. They are filed by location, religion and in date order. Do you have when he was born?
If he was not born more than 100 years ago, the records are in the local church. You would need to provide documention that she is related to this man. If he is deceased, you would need to provide a copy of his death certificate.
