There's a DNA match that has the Slovinski family in their tree and I'm trying to figure out how they are connected to me. The passenger manifest says they are from Wladzimirow, but there are several of them. I've searched the records for Zagorow, Trabczyn and no luck. Wladyslaw (or Ladyslaw) Slovinski was born Oct 31 1879. His parents were Marcell Slovinksi and Josephine Kozlowski. My next town I want to look at is in the attached map, but I'm having trouble finding the parish it belongs to. There's a town called Wola Laszczowa that looks like it has two Roman Catholic churches, but I can't find that town in Family Search records. Any suggestions on the Parish I should look up for Włodzimirów in the attached map? Thanks in advance!

I think this is what you are looking for in Family Search, but the films are locked and can only be viewed in a research center near you.

https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/397539?availability=Family%20History%20Library

Note that both Włodzimirów and Wola Laszczowa are part of the administrative district of Gmina Kazimierz Biskupi

Here is current info on them:
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gmina_Kazimierz_Biskupi
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W%C5%82odzimir%C3%B3w,_Konin_County
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wola_%C5%81aszczowa

Best of luck,
Cynthia

Thank you Cynthia!!!

I could not figure out that parish and yes, I bet that IS him. Thank you!

That will save me time with knowing exactly which year to start with! (1874 and not 1879) (that seems to be a trend that all my ancestors are a few years older than what they stated in the United States). I've been to the family research center a few times and I will check it out tomorrow!

Thanks again!! Very Happy

Linda,
Happy to help out. I hope this works out for you. Even if the 1874 index isn't your Wladyslaw, continue looking in those parish books. Geneteka does not index all of the books.
Best,
Cynthia

Hi Linda & Cynthia,

I hate to snow on the parade (it is much too cold for rain today in beautiful, scenic Michigan City) but although both villages are within the gmina of Kazimierz Biskupi the parish to which they both belonged is Gosławice. This info comes from both the Słownik geograficzny...& the Skorowidz miejcowości…
Here are links to the listings in the Słownik: http://dir.icm.edu.pl/pl/Slownik_geograficzny/Tom_XIII/790 & http://dir.icm.edu.pl/pl/Slownik_geograficzny/Tom_XIII/716
The attached image is from the Skorowidz. Gosławice is currently part of a town. Family Search has two listings for the parish https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/results?count=20&placeId=69142&query=%2Bplace%3A%22Poland%2C%20Pozna%C5%84%2C%20Gos%C5%82awice%20(Konin)%22&subjectsOpen=515270-50 and both require viewing the records at a Family History Center or affiliate library.

Since the plan is to go to the Family History Center tomorrow the parade can go on as scheduled, but it looks like the route needs to be changed a bit.

The parish is under the patronage of St. Andrew the Apostle (Świętego Andrzeja Apostoła) and the church dates from the 15th Century although it was renovated in 1801 and again in 1819. Here is a link to a picture of the church https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ko%C5%9Bci%C3%B3%C5%82_%C5%9Bw._Andrzeja_Aposto%C5%82a_w_Koninie#/media/Plik:Konin_Gos%C5%82awicka_38_Ko%C5%9Bci%C3%B3%C5%82_pw_%C5%9Bw_Andrzeja-002.JPG

Good luck with the quest.

Dave

Great save, Dave! Now Linda will know exactly where to look for films at the research center, and I learned something in the process. That’s the beauty of the community - checks and balances!

Many thanks,
Cynthia

Thanks Dave and Cynthia!

I did not have any luck with the Kazimierz_Biskupi files yesterday. It was strange, I think It may have been human error on mart part. I looked like there was a Wladyslaw Slovinski in the index, but then when I looked up the AKT, it was for a Wladyslaw Ircha. Either they wrote down the wrong AKT number, or I missread the number or something.

I will check out Gosławice next week! I will maybe check out Russocice as well, since there is a Wladyslawow. I'll will find those elusive Slovinski's yet! haha Very Happy

I just wanted to let you know that I did find them in Goslawice! Finally! Hooray!!! I have marcelproust working on the translations. Now I just hope they match one of Teofila Szymanski's parents!

Very Happy
