Here is the birth record of Jan Płoski (John Ploski) in a nutshell.

It happened in the Krasnosielc parish on October 27, 1889 at 1pm. 27-year-old Franciszek Płoski appeared in the presence of Jan Cupryn and Józef Kruk who lived in Buda Przysieki and told us that on October 25 this year at 1 pm a male child was born from his wife Rozalia née Kruk who was baptized name Jan.

Thank you so much for all your help so far, I will try to answer all questions tomorrow, because it is almost 1.30 am in Poland. I will ask my friend if he has any photos about John, they would be very useful. Best wishes from Poland

I received a wedding picture of John Ploski. Unfortunately, I don't know the year. I only have information that this photograph was taken by Chester's Polonia Studio Bayonne NJ.

Hi Jozef,

That photo and the location of the studio is a clue. Ancestry.com has a record from the New Jersey Marriage Index:

Name: John Ploski
Gender: Male
Marriage Date: 1937
Marriage Place: New Jersey, USA
Spouse: Alice Rudoski

Based on the dress in the photo, it could date to 1937. The next step would be to contact the city of Bayonne and request a search for this marriage application and record. I will post contact information for Bayonne, NJ a bit later. Once you get this marriage record, you can verify if it is your John Ploski by the names of his parents which should be included in the record.

It is the most logical next step based upon the information provided with the photo.

Best,
Cynthia

Hi Jozef,

Here is a link to the New Jersey Department of Health where you can order a search for the 1937 marriage record:

https://www.state.nj.us/health/vital/order-vital/genealogical-records/

Or, you can try contacting the Archdiocese of Newark to request a search of Sacramental records:

https://www.rcan.org/

Perhaps your friend in the USA can do this for you.

Best,
Cynthia

On familysearch.org, I found a New Jersey Marriage Index from 1937 with a record of Alice Rudoski's wedding with John Ploski. I wonder where you can find their wedding record? Only archive?

Hi Jozef,

Yes, that is the same record I found. That is why I posted the links for the Hudson County and the Archdiocese of Newark. You can only get the record through the archives.

I also found 1940 census for John and Alice but his age in 1940 does not match with a birth date of 1889 and the census gives his place of birth as New Jersey - not Poland. So I don’t think that 1937 marriage is him.

Question - how are you related to Jan Ploski?

Cynthia

Here is the 1940 census I told you about... age and place of birth doesn’t line up with your Jan Ploski.

Cynthia

This is not my relative, but a friend whom I help.
