I'm looking for information on the surname Grzeskiewicz in Biezun, Mazowieckie, Poland (Russian Occupied) Records. I'm looking for vital records for this region in Poland for the mid-late 1800's. Any help on where to find them would be appreciated. In particular I am looking for a Wincenty Grzeskiewicz born 19 June 1876 in Biezun, Mazowieckie, Poland (Russian Occupied) and his wife Anna Czarneki (Czarneka).

Thanks,

Paul

Hello Paul,

you can find the birth record of Wincenty Grześkiewicz (son of Stanisław and Katarzyna nee Gorzkiewicz, born on 4/16 June 1876) here (act 114): http://metryki.genealodzy.pl/metryka.php?ar=13&zs=0615d&sy=1876&kt=1&plik=111-114.jpg#zoom=2.5&x=1202&y=1250

Do you know the birthplace of Anna Czarneki? Was she born in Bieżuń as well?

On the website http://metryki.genealodzy.pl/ there are more vital records of Bieżuń parish: http://metryki.genealodzy.pl/metryki.php?op=sy&ar=13&zs=0615d

If you will get the records you are interested in and would like to ask for translation (they will be in Russian) here is a thread with translations on the forum: https://forum.polishorigins.com/viewtopic.php?t=3525

If you wish our assistance with your research do not hesitate to contact us, here you can find more details: https://polishorigins.com/genealogy/

Best regards,
Katarzyna

Katarzyna,

Thank you so much, this will mean a lot to my step-grandson! He is only 10 years old but is very interested to learn about where he came from. This will make a young boy very happy, so thank you again for your help.

I have spent quite a bit of time looking up my Polish ancestors who where from Znin. Those records are much easier for me to try and read as they are Catholic Church records in Latin, and much is captured in the Poznan Project. Records in Russian will be a new challenge for me to figure out.

Best regards,

Paul

I was so excited, I forgot to say that I do not know where Anna Czarneki was born. I believe she was born in 1884 and died 24 Jan 1954 in the United States. All I have are the Naturalization papers that I found for Wincenty. I could get you a copy if it would help.

Thank you again!

Hello Paul,

10 years old boy and he is interested in his origins - that's great!
I reviewed more scans and found the marriage record of Wincenty's parents: Stanisław Grześkiewicz and Katarzyna Gorzkiewicz. They got married in 1872 in Bieżuń, here is the record (act 26): http://metryki.genealodzy.pl/metryka.php?ar=13&zs=0615d&sy=1872&kt=2&plik=026-027.jpg#zoom=1.5&x=451&y=709

As for the Anna Czarnecki: please attach documents you have, maybe I or other forum member will be able to find a hint in them.

I agree that records in Russian are the challenge Wink

Best regards from Poland,
Katarzyna

Hello Paul,

thank you for the document, in my opinion this is the same person.

I was looking for the names of Anna's parents and I think that found them here: https://www.findagrave.com/memorial/203711488/anna-grzeszkiewicz

According to this, I was able to find information about Wincenty and Anna's marriage! Please take a look at this: https://geneteka.genealodzy.pl/index.php?op=gt&lang=eng&bdm=S&w=07mz&rid=S&search_lastname=czarniecki&search_name=antoni&search_lastname2=kowalak&search_name2=karolina&from_date=&to_date=

The 4th entry from the top: Wincenty Grzeszkiewicz (parents: Stanisław and Katarzyna Gorzkiewicz) and Anna Czarnecka (parents: Antoni and Karolina Kowalska). They got married in Zawidz, it is about 18 km from Bieżuń Wink

Unfortunately vital records for Roman Catholic parish in Zawidz are not available online. They are stored in the State Archives in Płock. Also some civil registries for Zawidz are available in the same Archives

You can try to contact Archives and ask for copies of records (maybe Anna's birth record as well?).
Here is an email address: [email protected]

Best regards,
Katarzyna

Katarzyna,

Thank you for all of your help, I wouldn’t have been able to find this on my own.
