My gr-grandfather was born Nicolaus Dabrowski in Brusy, Ger/Poland on 8 Sep 1858 to Mathias Dabrowski & Carolina Radomska. I have the birth record from an LDS film, along with several family members. He came to USA about 1881 and purchased land in Dakota County, NE in 1884.
I am searching for any information about his wife, Franziska Gelta (Helta, Heldt) from the same area, born 1862-1866. I find limited results on her surname. She came to USA in 1888 as Franciska Gelta, and again in 1890 as Franziska Dabrowska and for a third time as Franziska Dombrowska in 1896 with 3 kids in tow. I might assume the marriage was in NE, USA. She traveled back to Europe several times while Nicolaus sold the land in NE & moved the family to Wisconsin. The children John & Marie were born in NE, Alexander was born in Ger/Poland. Only one LDS film came close to matching a name: 1881 death record for Vincenty Helta, husband of Jozefina (Rzepinska), father of Franciska, Juliann, Rozalia, Maryanna.
Does anyone know this family or maybe pass on some search tips?

Hi Roseanne,
How is your search coming along for Franziska Gelta? Were you able to locate a birth record for her?

Shellie,
Thank you for keeping in contact with those of us who need a clue for the hunt. It was last year at this time that I posted my need for help. It is nice to hear from anyone.
I've had little to no luck in my search for Franziska Gelta in West Prussia. Many LDS films were viewed in the areas of Brusy, Lesno, Kosobudy, and Zalesie. I searched the surnames of Gelta, Helta, Heldt, and Jelta. There doesn't seem to be any Franciszka forename to connect with.
I do have plans to visit an older cousin for a story-telling session in hopes that she can provide another clue to keep the search alive. Thanks again,
Roseanne

Hi Roseanne,
Did you try contacting the Archdiocese of Omaha to see if they might have the marriage record in their archives? It may have Franciszka's birthplace and parents' names.
I hope the visit with your cousin is fruitful!
Shellie
