Post subject: Zapart - Trying to trace husbands grandparents
Trying to find information on the parents of Marian Ludwig Zapart born 7 July 1912 in Colonog, Poland.
Parents were Ludwika Zapart and Assastarji (maiden name unknown).
Any help would be appreciated.

Hi KZ - Merry Christmas!
Can you tell us where you got the information you've posted? It might help someone here. I am no expert on village names, but Colonog seems unusual. Is this how the village name was spelled on a document? Do you have any hunch about what part of Poland Marian's village is located - did he ever mention any large towns (this might help narrow down the area).
Also, Marian Ludwig Zapart's parents. Is Assastarji the mother's name or father's? Is this information from a document, or from memory provided by Marian Ludwig Zapart himself?
Did this family remain in Poland or emigrate to another country?
These questions might seem a little strange, but understanding some of these tiny details might help someone who can provide you with a clue.

Hello, I looked for the town Colonog in my Polish Atlas and did not find any such town or any towns even close to this spelling.

Hi,
National Archives in Australia holds two records about a Maryan Zapart, born in 1912. The years matches the death certificate you have.

Hi,
Just googled & think it is a typo on DC & is probably should be Golonog, Poland. Reread DC Assastarji is down as mothers surname.
We know Marian's other details, it is his parents that we do not have any information other than the names.
Marians daughter Alice from a previous unknown relationship lives/d in USA.
Regards

You are welcome.
I see your point. Golonog is not a city or village, it is a neighborhood in Dabrowa-Gornicza, in slaskie province.
It is not listed as a village, town or city in mapa.szukacz.pl nor in Cities and Municipalities of Slaskie in http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~pollodz/slastown.htm
As to Karlsruhe I did find nine results in www.kartenmeister.com but could not link any of them to Golonog.
Maryan's birth record is surely kept at the Civil Records Office in Dabrowa-Gornicza, whose address is:
Urząd Stanu Cywilnego - Dąbrowa Górnicza

Thank you for this information. I will try to make contact & see if I'm able to get the records.
In the meantime would love to hear from anyone who may know these names or would like to offer more advice.

To all who responded,
Just wanted to let you know that I finally got a copy of my father-in-law's birth certificate thanks to your help.
It was a little challenging as I emailed my questions in English only to get a reply in Polish, which neither myself nor my husband read, write nor speak. Through google translate was able to sort out what I needed to do to purchase it.
Regards
