Radio Alex 105.2 FM broadcasting live from Zakopane is a great way to listen to Góral folk music right from the heart of the Tatra Mountains. Listen for some Polish Góral dialect. (góral gwara)

http://www.radioalex.pl/ Click on the Radio Alex - LIVE!!! (WINAMP) and your player should start in a few moments. Now minimize your page (the player will still run) and listen while you research on Polish Origins.

Siklawa is one of my favorite bands. Check out the colorful clothes, ciupaga's, and a góral style cabin in this video. Pobudka - (Reveille)

"Ciupaga" from Łąko, practicing in the back room. These boys have some fun but play with a passion. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_rN5Q0Dn-Q&feature=related

Brought back many wonderful memories! I don't remember the words or what they mean, but I remember the melody and the chorus Smile

A Polish Góral, melancholic song which describes the reason and origin of the emigration from Poland to the United States:

Goralu, czy ci nie zal odchodzic od sron ojczystych;
Swierkowych lasow i hal i tych potokow srebrzystych.
Goralu, czy nie zal...Goralu, wracaj do hal.

A goral no gory spoziera, i lzy rekawen ociera;
dla chleba, panie, dla chleba, i gor porzucic trzeba.

Loosely translated, it means:

Mountaineer, aren't you sad to leave your homeland; its spruce forest, mountain pastures and silver brooks?

Mountaineer gazes at the mountains and wipes the tears away with his sleeve; knowing that for "bread" (livelihood) he must leave his mountains.

Although this song talks about the Góral emigrants from the southern part of Poland (Galicia), in time it has become a song-symbol for Poles from all regions of Poland.

I love this song! I posted the full text and a translation of it here last year:
http://forum.polishorigins.com/viewtopic.php?t=718&highlight=bread
I also enjoy listening to the group "Gorale de Dourges" at http://christophe.impega.free.fr/eindex.htm
Click the black button on the left hand side of their website where it says "Our music", scroll down a little, and you'll find a list of very nice Gorale music that you can listen to. My favorites are "Janicek" and "Rivama".
