Greetings,

I am not sure it's the right place to put this URL, so feel free to correct me.

The Polish National Numeric Archives - Narodowe Archiwum Cyfrowe - has a website with pictures, life in Poland.

https://www.facebook.com/narodowe.archiwum.cyfrowe/photos_stream

Best,
Elzbieta

Elżbieta,
I love this website as well! You've linked their Facebook profile, but there is also an official website: http://audiovis.nac.gov.pl/, this is an enormous collection of old pictures from different periods.
Greetings,
Aga

Here is another interesting photo album from the national Digital Archives: "Z gliny" ("Made from clay").
This small collection presents old photos of Polish potters and ceramics studios.

As you probably know today is April Fools' Day! National Digital Archive prepared special album of photos for this occasion:

Below is my favorite one from this album:

"Grupa kobiet i mężczyzn przy ulicy Przeskok w Warszawie rozbija jajko na rozgrzanym asfalcie aby sprawdzić temperaturę nawierzchni, 1967-1970"

(A group of women and men at Przeskok street in Warsaw is breaking the egg at the hot asphalt to check the temperature of the surface, 1967-1970)

The photograph is a woman selling pączki on the streets of Warsaw comes from the collection of the National Digital Archives.

Today we celebrate Fat Thursday (Tłusty Czwartek). I know some of you might be surprised, but yes: in Poland we do it on Thursday.

The last Tuesday before the lent is called "ostatki".
What about you? When do you celebrate it? Do you make your own pączki or chruściki?
