Hello,
My grandfather was born in a place called Zuchrowice (alternate spellings might be Suchrowice/ Zuchovisyce/ Zuchrovieze). His documents seem to indicate that this is a part of Lemberg/ Lviv/ Lwow (formerly Poland and now Ukraine), but I'm not sure. Can anybody give me more information about Zuchrowice? I am trying to find out what this place is called now and exactly where it is.

My ultimate goal is to see if I am eligible for Polish citizenship by descent.

I really appreciate any information. Thanks for your help!

Stefanie

Hello Stephanie,
Welcome to the forum!

It would be best for you to post some of the documents you have with the name of the village so we can see it. Also, it would help if you could tell us his full name, date of birth, if he immigrated, where and when he immigrated.

Best,
Cynthia

Hello,

I am attaching some documents that mention my grandfather's place of birth as Zuchrowice, Lemberg/ Lviv/ Lwow (then Poland, now Ukraine). Alternate spellings might be Suchrowice/ Zuchovisyce/ Zuchrovieze (in the handwritten documents, the spelling is hard to read).
My grandfather was Abraham Weisman (also spelled Weissman), born in 1912. After surviving the Holocaust, he emigrated to the U.S. in 1949, departing from a survivor's camp in Germany.

Can anybody give me more information about Zuchrowice? Was it a town/ neighborhood within Lemberg? I am trying to find out what this place is called now and exactly where it is.

My ultimate goal is to see if I am eligible for Polish citizenship by descent.

I really appreciate any information. Thanks for your help!

maybe this is the village of Zuchorzyce, located in the commune of Biłka Szlachecka, in the county of Lwów.
I have checked the list of villages and towns in the county of Lwów and it was the only name that was close to the place mentioned in the three attached documents. Note that the middle attachment mentions the place that is closest in name to the one I wrote about.

Thank you for the information - this sounds like a definite possibility.
