ah just remember that i has asked the widows in the krakow archive when i found the vid post what it meant and they had tons of books etc and told me it meant widow even though the other word is used as well. so since then i have associated vid. with death. some short hand for them. could the nuns have been wrong? maybe but they seemed confident.

Since I was curious if the name Ema was the Latin spellling, I went to Google Translate. I chose the Latin language, and typed in Ema. It was "translated" in Polish as Emma. Then I reversed it. I chose the Polish language and typed in Emma. It was "translated" in Latin as Emma, but when I clicked on the translated, Latin Emma, there were these alternate "translations" as well: Emme, Emmam, Ema, Ymma. I thought this might be helpful to people (like myself) that don't always recognize what the original Polish name is when they are looking at records written in Latin.
