Post subject: Book of photos of Warsaw
I purchased a book recently that tugged at my emotions.
Warszawa - Zburona I Odbudowana ( 1997 )
Warsaw - Ruined and Rebuilt
It is written in Polish and has the English translation underneath the Polish text. The book contains various photographs of the destruction of the city of Warsaw, during W W II, and under each photograph , is a photo the same scene / building as it appears today.
Comparing the photos, one on top of the other, and seeing the horror of the destruction, and then the loving care that went into the rebirth of the city, is something to be remembered forever.
It is very amazing how the history can really portray itself through various pictures that were taken so candidly.Pictures really do speak a thousand words!. I am also moved by seeing those pictures of how Warsaw was able to stand up and rise after the WWII. It is very heartwarming to see how the city picked up from the destruction and be able to rebuilt and restore the beauty of the city after all those years. Now it is one of the places that avid tourists would want to see for themselves
