Good day all:
I am meeting the grand daughter of Jan Prajer (records attached) in April 2023. I would like to be able to give her an
account of his military campaigns with the Polish Legions. This record in German appears to identify his units and places of
involvement ie; Dąbrowa, Rytro, Żegiestów, Dąbrówka (many village with this name), Piaski Wielkie (nowadays it is a part of Kraków). Can anyone help? Thanks in advance.

Hi Susan,
The information provided on the two documents is more or less identical. Johann Prajer was born in 1872, residing in Dąbrowa and a scribe of profession. In 1894 he underwent the physical examination for military service in Austria-Hungary. Information about his military service before 1914 is not provided. He had the rank of a corporal and I would assume the “L.” in combination with his age meant he was a member of the “Landsturm”. He received no penalties and no special trainings. I am not sure about all the acronyms used in the army of Austria-Hungary, but it looks as if:
On August 2, 1914 Johann was drafted and allocated to Gendamerie-Assistenz Dąbrowa.
In February 1915 he was assigned [transferiert] to Eisenbahn Sicherung [Abteilung] Rytro, Żegiestów [the railway security unit for the railway between the two places]
In September 1915 he was assigned to Kader [Schulung?] Deutsch Dąbrówka [might have been the training for becoming a corporal]
In October 1915 he was assigned to Mil[itärische?] Beobachtung Sp. Bielitz [unsure about this, seems to be a kind of military surveillance. I wonder whether “Sp.” might be short for “Spital” or hospital. It looks like a gap in his military career. The next entry supports this assumption: he was drafted again ten months later.]
On August 18, 1916 he was drafted to 4/32 W.K. Neusandez [Four days, just a stopover.]
On August 22 [1916] he was assigned to k.k. L.B. Kommando 16 Krakau
On November 18, 1916 he was assigned to Piaski Wielkie / k.u.k. Befestigungsbaudirection Dablin [the office for fortress construction, it looks as if he was stationed in the Krakau area.]

Hello! I have a related post about this ancestor in the Latin translation section, but since this record is in German, I put it here.
I am trying to figure out the original surname of my g-g-grandmother. She goes by Marianna Radonska or Marianna Jagodzinska interchangeably on numerous records. I believe she was widowed before her marriage to my g-g-grandfather, and under her name on this birth record of my g-grandmother, there is a note, and they reference both names, but I am not sure of the meaning. I believe that they are saying that Maryanna Pojat has a surname of Radonska and the surname from her 1st marriage is Jagodzinska, but I don't have more than a rudimentary understanding of German, so I would like to confirm.
Would anyone be able to translate and lend some insight? Thank you so much!
