Post subject: Looking for Polish ancestors
Hello,
I'm from the Czech Republic and I'm trying to find my ancestors who came from Poland. Unfortunately, I'm stuck and have no idea how to move forward, so I'd like to ask for your help. I'll try to summarize everything I know.
My great-grandfather Jakub Buc should have been born in Łapsze Wyżne, in 1899. His parents should be Bartolomej Buc and Maria Pavlikova or Pjontkova. I don't know the origins of his parents, but I think Maria could be from Slovakia. Jakub Buc married Maria Palarova, the daughter of Josef Palar and Maria Liganz. Maria Liganz (born around 1861) is supposed to be from Waksmund, Poland. I think Josef Palar was also Slovak.
This is where I sort of end with these ancestors. I am unable to find anywhere Bartolomej Buc or Maria Liganz who should be from Poland. Bartholomew might not have come from Łapsze Wyżne but from some nearby villages such as Czarna Góra or Rzepiska. There are a lot of families in Czarna Gora with the surname Budz/Bucz, which is probably an older version of Buc. Is there a way to find out if Bartolomej was born in Czarna Góra and then moved to Łapsze Wyżne, where my great-grandfather Jakub was born?
I reviewed the materials available on familysearch several times but couldn't find anything. Are there any other resources available somewhere? Or is the only way to find out something to go to the respective cities directly to the registry office?
Thank you for your help.
Best regards
Vajsif

Hello Vajsif,
it seems that records for Łapsze Wyżne and nearby villages are not available online or in The National Archives in Krakow and Archdiocesan Archive in Krakow. You should probably try to obtain them from the registry office.
Łapsze Wyżne, Czarna Góra and Rzepiska are part of the region called Spisz which was an administrative county of the Kingdom of Hungary in the XIX century. Here you can find Hungarian names of these villages https://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spisz_Polski
On FamilySearch you can find records from Hungary, Szepes https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/results?count=20&placeId=76667&query=%2Bplace%3A"Hungary%2C Szepes"&subjectsOpen=710942-50,386252-50
I can't find Łapsze Wyżne here, but maybe it will be helpful in your further research of your ancestors from Slovakia.
I have also found the 1869 census of Hungary, for the county Szepes. You will find here Łapsze Wyżne (Felső-Laps /Vyšné Lapše) and probably Czarna Góra (Csarnagura / Čierna Hora). I don't know when Bartłomiej was born, but maybe you will find the Buc/Bucz/Budz family here. https://www.familysearch.org/search/catalog/983449?availability=Family%20History%20Library
Good luck!

Hi,
Here is the link to the actual marriage entry: https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/3:1:3Q9M-CSXN-3SP8-Z?i=80&cc=4116415&cat=733504
As was customary, since he was a widower the names of his parents are not entered but the record states that they were deceased.
If you can locate his 1st marriage the names of his parents should appear there. Also, a lady by the name of AllisonW is researching this family. Her email is found on the Poznan Project.
Wishing you success,
Dave

Hi There,
Per the information that was posted on the Poznan Project by Allison about Mateusz (Maciej) Lukaszewski death and parents, I am posting the actual record for verification. If you post this record in the German Translation section of the forum, someone will be able to translate it for you. It should list Mateusz's date of birth, place of birth, and parents' names. I am posting the record in case the link doesn't work.
https://www.genealogiawarchiwach.pl/#query.type=ALL&query.facetQuery.date=1884&query.city=Strzelno&query.suggestion=false&query.thumbnails=false&query.facet=true&query.asc=false&query.sortMode=PUBLICATION&modal=293154265&personTree=false&goComments=false&searcher=big&query.query
Also, Jan Lukaszkewski (son of Mateusz Lukaszewski and Theresia Wyzyk) died June 3, 1852. I am attaching the record in case the link doesn't work.
There was an edit to this post. "Joanna" is listed as a male child, therefore, given name should be Jan.

Hope this helps some.
