... and his wife's maiden name is Antonina Dabrowska?
I found 3 children for the couple Jozef Ambis and Antonina Dabrowska. They were born in 1906, 1909 and 1912.
Wedding from 1905 that could fit, but Antonina's maiden name ist Jaworska.
Do you have more info that could help?

Wow, Thank you for looking Barb.
I noted those names/ saved those files.
Jozef Ambis is married to Antonina Dombrowski and travel documents report Jozef is from Warsaw. I know they had 3 children prior to leaving Poland. I have a few first names for Antonina Dombroski i.e. I have Sophia is on a citizen report in Hamilton Ontario Canada, and Sylvia is on her grave stone, Antoinette is listed, and I also have Dombroski as another version of her last name. I wonder if there are more variations of her last name. My understanding is it is all the same person as Jozef only had one wife.
They had 3 children prior to leaving for Canada.
Josephine Ambis (which I believe is Jozefa) - unknown birth date
Sylvia Ambis (which I believe is Zofia) - Birth date is 1909 as per a grave stone
Marianne Ambis - Birth is 1906 as Per a marriage record.
* It is the 3 records of the children that made me look into Antonina Dabrowska as a possible Antonina Dombrowski. i.e. Maybe a progression of her last name/ or different spelling from different dialects/ translation from latin... Just like Zofia to Sophia, or Sophia as a nick name to Sylvia.
That 1905 marriage record of Jozef Ambis and Antonina Jaworska record did catch my eye as it is from the same parish as two of the children. I wonder if that is them somehow, But I keep on looking.
Other Information:
-Jozef Birth Oct 21/1886 -1955
- Antonina/Antinette/Sophie/Sylvia Dombrowski Birth June 24 1887 - 1953
- Jozef possible Farther is Zoni? from Warsaw (was listed on a US boarder crossing) the writing was pretty hard to read.
- Jozef immigrated to Canada either on April 1912 or 1913 SS Barcelona to Halifax Canada. Sad to say the immigration papers do not offer a lot of information.
- Jozef was in the Calvary and possible was a medic. My understanding is that it would have been the Russian Calvary at that time. We believe he went "AWOL" Absent without leave and left for Canada, later paying for his family to join him. - I have have a photo but there are no markings on it to identify what army/ devision of the army and I have not found any records yet.
- Antonina Dombroski may be an only child - family stories.
Sad to say that is all I have for now.
Thanks
Joey

Hello Joey,
First the children:
Marianna was born on September 4, 1906 in Dańków parish Błędów
Zofia was born on April 20, 1909 in Dańków parish Błędów
Jozefa Michalina was born on November 5, 1912 in the Warszawa-Wola parish of St. Stanisław.
In all the protocols, the father's occupation is stated as worker. Father is about 2 years younger than mother. Estimated year of birth for father is 1887, and for mother 1885.
Jozef could not emigrate in 1912. On December 26, 1912 he declared the birth of his daughter Jozefa Michalina.
I found the birth record for Jozef, and the date matches yours (21.10.1886)
And now comes something interesting. Look at picture. Only Jozef's mother is entered in his birth record. And the same mother is stated in the wedding record of Jozef and Antonina Jaworska in 1905. Based on the age of Jozef he married between 1904-1906.
Last name Dąbrowska can be spelled Dombrowska, Dabrowska
Regards,
-Barb

Oh that is very cool and interesting.
I wonder about the last names; Jaworska and Dombrowski - there is a story how Jozef sent back money and the bank would not let Antonina have the money, her employer (a wealthy family) had to step in to help them get the access to the money to buy their tickets to cross the alantic. I wonder if there is something there...
This is very exciting.
Thank you again, you have been very helpful.
Joey
