Post subject: Fraktur script translation request
Hello,
Can someone translate the occupation description of my ancestor, Dymitr Winogrodzki? He is the father of the bride, Ursula Sabina.
Thank you.
Here is the link to the original record on geneteka.http://agadd.home.net.pl/metrykalia/301/sygn.%20201/pages/PL_1_301_201_0095.htm

Hi Julie,
You may have better success with getting a reply to this question, if you re-post it on the German records translation thread.
I can see in earlier posts of yours that you were told that this is Fraktur, but it is not. Fraktur occurs in genealogy records as a typeface more than as a style of handwriting. If it were in Fraktur, I would have been able to transliterate it for you. This handwriting is actually Kurrent script ("Kurrentschrift") which you can read more about, here:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kurrent
It is always fascinating to see how smoothly writers of that period could switch on and off between handwriting styles, as the Kurrent writing was often used for most of the text, while often surnames and place names were done in a script much more legible to us. Your record, being in Latin, contains much more legible script and very little Kurrent.
Best of luck in your research,
Sophia
