Hi Jeanluck,

You are asking about the battles he was in. For sure, he was at the battle of Hrubieszów, in August 1920.

Your third image shows Page 8 of the booklet. Printed at the top of the page it says:

“3. Udzial w wazniejszych bitwach: (data, miejsce, stopien wojskowy i funkcja)”

That translates to: 3. Participation in major battles: (date, place, military rank and function)

The handwritten words are harder to decipher. I see this:

“W sierpniu 1920 pod [not sure of the next word, perhaps it is folwarkiem] pod Hrubieszowem pod Grabowcu jako ??gjonista [not sure of this word, but it ends in “-ista” and is likely giving his military rank or role].”

Can anyone else add to this?

Best regards,
Sophia

Hi Sophia,

Thank you for this little additional information.

This word must be "legionista" because he belonged to the 2nd regiment of the Legion.

Best regards.

Hi Jean-Luc,

Legionista makes perfect sense (they used an older spelling, with "j" instead of "i", Legjonista).

In case it is helpful, I will transcribe what I can from the other pages. Not all of it is clear to me. Whatever is handwritten, I will mark in bold.

Here is what is written in your first image:

On page 2 of the booklet:

Lk. rej 464
W razie mobilizacji 1900 r.
stawić się natychmiast w P.K.U. Kalisz
Turek, dn. 16 I 1923 r. [so as you know, this is 16 January 1923]
[signature]
Przeczytaj pouczenie na str. 22-24.

On page 3 of the booklet:

Rok urodzenie: 1900
Rok poboru (wstąpieniu) do wojska: 1920
Liczb porz. Listy poborowej: 19
Imione: Leonard
Nazwisko: Kleszta
P.K.U. Kutno Kalisz
Gł. Ks. ewid.: 95

Now to work on the next one!

Here is part of your second image, page 4 of the booklet:

Urodz. dn. 26 IV 1900 r. w Budy Słodkowskie
Gmina: Piętno
Pow.: Turecki
Wojewódz.: [it should say Łódzkie]
Wyzn.: Rz. Katol.
Język macierzysty: Polski
Imiona rodziców: Mikołaj Antonina
Miejsce ich zamieszk.: Budy Słodkowskie
Stan rodzinny (wolny, żon., wdowiec): Wolny
[other items left blank]
Wrazie ciężkiego wypadku należy uwiadomić:
(kogo? dokładny adres):
Mikołaj Kleszta w Budy Słodkowskie

I may get to other parts of this later.

Hi Jean-Luc,

You are probably most interested in Image 4.

You can get through most of Page 10 of the booklet if you understand the word "przeniesieny" means he was transferred. Dates are always written as Day then Month then Year. For the dates in 1920 and 1921, they are using this format: number for the day, Roman numeral for the month, number for the year, (when it is followed by "r" it means "rok" which means year.) For the years after 1921, they are using numbers for the month also. Examples: 3 II 1920 r. and 28.8.25.

There are military abbreviations which I do not understand. Most probably are naming military units like battalions. One long number probably is a law or military order. I hope some of this is useful to you.

Przebieg służby wojskowej:
Pobrany dn. 6 X 1919 r. przez P.K.U. Kutno
(section left blank)
W ciolony dn. 3 II 1920 do z Palnu? Wilanskiego?

Służba w szeregach:
Przeniesienia, mianowania i awanse:
(data, odnośny rozkaz, władza):
dn. 1 VII 1920 przeniesieny do 2pp leg.
dn. 17 II 1921 przeniesieny do 3p Btn. Kom.
dn. 17 X 1921 w mysl roznam M B Wojsk S 7600/629/21 przeniesieny do 10p B K 15.1.23 zwolniony
