A U.S. Declaration of Intention for Andrew Paluszkewicz states he was born in Miendrzyzec, Siedlecka and that his last place of residence was Warsau, Siedlecka. I found two different Miedzyrzecz. Here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mi%C4%99dzyrzecz and here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mi%C4%99dzyrzec_Podlaski I am wondering if either of these are the correct town listed on the DI and what Siedecka is. Also, I'm assuming that Warsau is Warsaw but again, have no idea of what or where Siedlecka is.

Thanks for any help with this.

LuAnn

Hi LuAnn,
Quick thought -- there is Ulica Siedlecka (Siedlecka Street) in Warsaw. What do you think? Might it refer to an area within or next to Warsaw called Siedlecka, in Andrew's time?

Sophia,
It seems that Warsaw Siedlecka Street was his last place of residence. He was born and married in Międzyrzec. The place is located abt. 40 km from Siedlce.

Thanks, Barb! So it is the Międzyrzec in Lubelskie. Warsaw seems to have a lot of streets that are names for towns as well.

Yes, it is Siedlecka Street in Warsaw. I don't see any more places called Międzyrzec / Miendzyrzec in this area. So it must be Miedzyrzec Podlaski in Lubelskie, I think.

Hi LuAnn and Barb,

If it interests you, here are two maps of Warsaw. The first one shows Siedlecka Street in 1918:
https://polona.pl/preview/062c6dd4-d6b7-4449-858a-85cd401dc94b
(you have to look at the triangular area in the pink zone, specifically map coordinates M-14)

Now look at it in 1896:

Map coordinates P-3 and R-3. It is a little bit shorter of a street.

Here is a much older map of Miedzyrzeca, from 1812:

Best regards,
Sophia
