I am trying to find records of my grandparents that left Poland in 1912 & 1913 for America. They lived in Stannowo, Poland. Married in Michalin or Zbrachlin, Where can I look for records? I am hitting a wall

Hi,
Do you have a ship's manifest or other document that you can share with us?
What are your grandparents' names?
Regards,
- Barb

Hi Barb-
My dzia dzia was Antoni Urbanczyk/Urbanski and my bacia was Maryanna/Mania Klos(s)/Kloska. They came over separatedly. My dzia dzia first in 1912 and she came over with my aunt Josephine who was only 1 year old at the time, in 1913. Attached is the ship's manifest for Antoni. I cannot find any information on Antoni's parentage, but before one of my father's cousins passed, he told me that Antoni had a brother named Walter. I do know Maryanna had 8 sisters and 1 brother. Her parents, my great grand parents were Michal Klos and Konstancja Lewandowska(i).

I have found their marriage record. The parish of Zbrachlin, in the year of 1911, marriage act number 2.

Hi,
https://geneteka.genealodzy.pl/index.php?op=gt&lang=eng&bdm=S&w=02kp&rid=3456&search_lastname=urbanski&search_name=&search_lastname2=kloss&search_name2=&from_date=1911&to_date=1911
It is this wedding record Marcel is talking about. I will see if I can get the certificate.

Hello again,
I have sent an email to someone who may be able to help us with the wedding record from 1911. This wedding record gives us answers to who his parents are.
I believe Antoni's parents are:
Kazimierz Urbański and Elżbieta Wiśniewska

If this is correct then Antoni was born on January 10th, 1884 in the village of Przewieczerzyn and his brother Walter on December 8th, 1887 also in Przewieczerzyn.

It is much easier to find something about your grandmother (Marianna Klos). I found her parents, grandparents and great-grandparents.

Regards,
-Barb

Hi Mt, Barb, and Marcel,

Mt, Do you need the ship's manifest for Marianna and Josephine? I also saw the naturalization record for Antoni. I'm not sure what USA records you have for the family. Or were you just looking for records in Poland?

Regards,
Trish

My grandfather's birthday was always celebrated in November 21. On one record is show he was born in 1888 in Wroclawek. On another, filled out by his son, my uncle Steve, says he was born November 21, 1887 in Broslawek, county Warsaw. That link you sent appears to be my grandparents. I would love to have any Polish legal document that can be found.

One other thing, my father's cousin, prior to passing away, told me that my dzia dzia's brother Walter/Wladyslaw was a cobbler in Stannowo prior to WWII.

My babcia's sisters were: Frania, Jozia, Stasia Wladzea, Kasia, Malgosia Janina, Zosia and 1 brother Janek. My auntie Josephine was born in Stannowo, Poland in 1912. She was the eldest and only sibling of my father's born in Poland.

Thank you so much for these. I am thinking that some of the information gets a bit "off" because of language barriers. For instance, my auntie Josephine was female, but marked as "male".

I appreciate all of this. I am hoping at some point to get some Polish documents and am looking to write to their parish in Stannowo, Poland in hope that they have baptismal records or something to prove citizenship. I have spend a lot of money hiring help (a lot for me as a retired teacher) trying to get some proof of my grandparents citizenship. The Polish Immigration people say I not only need all these US documents but also as many Polish ones as possible before I can finally apply for dual citizenship.

I am very hopeful with the finding of my grandparents marriage certificate. That should give even more information, and hopefully list my grandfather's parents so I can gain even more verification of my ancestry.

Hi,
According to this birth record, Marianna Kłos was born on December 29th, 1892 in the village of Przywieczerzyn. She was the daughter of Michał Kłos and Konstancja nee Lewandowska. She was baptized in Lubanie church on January 1st, 1892.

In the Declaration of intention, her place of birth was stated as Zubania, and her date of birth is as above.

Lubanie is located 6 km from Zbrachlin where Antoni and Marianna got married in 1911.
