Post subject: Birth or baptism certificate / wedding register - Kolomyja
Hello, I am writing this message because I am trying to build my family tree, and I am looking for information about my great-grandfather's father. His name was Ignacy Jaremczuk, and his wife was Maria Muryn (I can’t find anything about her).
I found a profile that could match him on My Heritage indicating that he could have been born in 1896 in Kolomyja, but the person who wrote him in her tree did not have any more information to give me about him.
I just know that Ignacy lived in Urhynkowce in the 1920s, because it's the town where my great-grandfather was born, and Ignacy seemed to passed away in this town (or in Zaleszczyki) just before or at the begining of the World War 2. Someone on this group already helped me very much to find sibblings of my great-grandfather Michael/Michal Jaremczuk, but I would like to learn more about his parents.
Do you know where I could perhaps find his birth/baptismal/wedding certificate of this town ? Because I don’t know how I can relate this Ignacy Jaremczuk from Kolomyja to my great-grandfather Michael.
Thanks in advance.

Hi,
He was not born in Kolomyja. This parish is indexed for the time that interests you. No person with the surname Jaremczuk.

Hello, thank you for your reply. However, on several sites, including My Heritage, I find this person born in the city of Kolomyja that year. The name of his parents apparently seems to be Jan Jaremczuk and Rosalia Pizkosub. Thank you for your help.

Unfortunately I don’t have any documents in my possession, that’s why I’m writing this post, because I have nothing to connect this Ignacy Jaremczuk to my great-grandfather Michal, except his page on My Heritage. Other people on Facebook genealogical groups have confirmed this information about Ignacy Jaremczuk to me but no one has sent me any documents, or could tell me if he did marry Maria Muryn or had children. However, his data could match (date of birth might correspond, and Kolomyja is rather close to Uhrynkowce).

Okay, but you might have some documents that were issued in the US that could give us direction to search. Manifest, census ....It's difficult to move forward without a reference point.

I’m not from the US, and I have no document, except the wedding certificate of my great-grandfather which give me the name of his parents only (Ignacy Jaremczuk and Maria Muryn).

Hi Jareml and Barb,
Did Kolomyja have both a Roman Catholic church and a Greek Catholic church? Maybe the index you searched, Barb, is not from the church that Ignacy Jaremczuk was baptised in?

Hi Sophia,
Yes, I checked the year 1896 for both. We know too little.
