Post subject: Birth Record for Great Aunt
Hello! I’m trying to find the birth record for my great aunt Bronya Fuchs. I’ve been told that she was born on a train between countries. I’ve found the attached DP card for her, which gives her a birth date of 4/24/1946 in Chęciny, Poland.
Would appreciate any help!

Hi Jgold,
The DP card that you posted is the same one that Barb provided a link to, back in your October 2024 conversation here. At that time, Barb interpreted "Chechin" as being Szczecin:

I see that you are interpreting it as Chęciny, of which there are at least two in Poland. One is in the Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship and the other in the Masovian Voivodeship.
Since the system of vital records being held by the USC (Urzęd Stanu Cywilnego) was initiated in 1946, you ought to be able to apply to the USC of each of these three places and find out whether your Bronya Fuchs was born in one of them.
Best regards,
Sophia

Hi,
I have read several documents from the Arolsen Archive, and believe it is Szczecin in zachodniopomorskie Voivodeship.
In addition, if you read Trish's post (posted: Sat Oct 12, 2024 2:28 pm) , you will see the family's current address (in 1946): Szczecin ul.Studzienna 13.

Follow Sophia's advice. Write to USC. She was born in 1946, so you will probably need to document their relationship. Provide the address where the family lived.
