Swiniary nr. 27
On Jan 25/Feb 6, 1851 in village Gombinie?
presented himself Ludwik Hopp, farmer, 28 years old, residing in Swiniary,
and in the presence of Samuel Krauze, farmer, 52 years old, residing in ?
and Daniel Kuhn, (can't read his profession), 30 years old, residing in Gombinie?
and presented us a child of the feminin sex,
born of his wife Katarzyna Sznejdrow (not sure), 28 years old.
On the same day the child was Christianed and received the name of EWA
and her godparents were Krystyna Krause (married to a Hopp).

There are 16 Swiniary in present-day Poland. I would need to know where this on is located in order to identify the correct spelling for what I read as Gombinie (here presented in a declensioned form).

Hi Magroski49 and Jozefs,

Thank you very much for the fast translation!
The Swiniary mentioned in the document is, as Jozefs mentioned, in gmina slubice. It's between Nowosiadlo and Wiaczemin.
Could Ludwik's wife's last name be "Schneider"? I have a Ludwik Hopp and Katharine Schneider in my list!

Helli,

Just in case you don't know Gąbin sounds Gombin. It explains why it is written as Gombinie in the record. It is not the first time I see mistakes like that. As to Katarzyna I cannot tell you if Schneider is the germanized form Sznejdrow, though it sounds close.

Katarzyna z Sznejdrów = Katarzyna nee Sznejder lub Szneider lub Schneider - wszystkie 3 wersje poprawne

Catherine of Sznejdrów = Catherine nee Sznejder or Szneider or Schneider - all 3 versions of the correct
