I can't find Dombrow on a map. My Dad said he was born in Dombrow. My mother's family came from Lapy,are they close?

This page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dombrowa states:
Dombrowa is the German name of:
* Dąbrowa Górnicza, Poland
* Dąbrowa Białostocka, Poland

The name Dąbrowa comes from Oak, there is a lot of them, 86 listed here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/D%C4%85browa
But apparently there is only one gmina Łapy http://pl.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C5%81apy in wojewodztwo Podlaskie, powiat Bialystok (bialostocki).

I looked up maps.google.com with "gmina Łapy Poland", it is circa 25 km South-West from Bialystok.
On the Dąbrowa list, the first entry is Dąbrowa Białostocka, in wojewodztwo Podlaskie (and actually the only Dabrowa in Podlaskie). This is circa 50 km North-North-East from Bialystok, not very far from Belarus border (city Hrodna).

More information is needed to confirm or discard that hypothesis. Birth place, marriage place, school, etc.

thomjank~ The Polish Genealogical Society of Connecticut and the Northeast, Inc. has a whole section on their website dedicated to Dąbrowa Białostocka, including a history of the town as well as D-B- surnames in the New Britain CT area.
