Hi Sophia,

So what is the Residence Place "Dyleno"?

Hi Joe,

The indexer for the record that Trish found called it Dyleno. I read it yesterday as Tylewo. Let's meet in the middle, then, this morning and go with Dylewo. I am attaching an image of a map where you can see a Dylewo north-northwest of Ostroleka, just up route 53. To the west of Dylewo is a Baranowo, which seems promising as the other town mentioned in this manifest. Interestingly, there is also a village named Orzoł nearby.

Hi Joe, Sophia, and Barb,

I found Jakub Kaminski's 2nd wife, Jozefa Golumbiewska's ship manifest. Jozefa is on line #18. I need another set of eyes to read the record. Even the transcriber had a tough time transcribing the record.

I can see Jozefa is going to Shamokin, Pennsylvania. Please note the manifest was all one big record. I had to spilt the record for it to upload to the forum. I have the original record.

Thank you for your help!

Hi everyone,

Josefa Golombiewska's last residence was Baranowo in the Russian partition of Poland. Her nearest relative there was her uncle, Adam Pienkowski, living in Tylewo (the first letter of the town is hard to read). Her place of birth was also Tylewo. As you said, Trish, she planned to go to Shamokin, Pennsylvania. Her original answer to the person she was going to stay with was her brother-in-law Grzegorz (in English, Gregory) Orzoł if I am reading that correctly. This was then crossed out. The second name she gave seems to be Mrs. Grzegrz Orzoł who was in the country for 12 years. The town is still in Pennsylvania but begins with Br or Bu.

Does that help?
Sophia

Hi Sophia,

Thank you for being my eyes and transcribing the manifest. Least now we know the name of the town for Jozefa. Maybe Joe can find her birth record from that town.

Thanks again,
Trish

yes, I want to thank all of you for your help with this. I could never have found the information that you have provided me. I did reach out to a Genealogy research group in Ukraine. To date I haven't heard back from them, but when I do I will be sure to keep you all informed of any progress I make.

Again, Thank you very much for all of your help!!

Warm Regards,

Joe Kaminski
