just stumbled on this site. Looks great!
If I may ask for one bit of help: I've been trying to research church records of my family Szwed from Ryczow, in the deanery if Zator, archdiocese of Krakow, thru the LDS files, with few results. I've been holding off writing to the priest in the parish, hopung I might find a source. Any suggestions?

Welcome to the Forum Thomas,
I am afraid your research case is similar to this one here: http://forum.polishorigins.com/viewtopic.php?t=243 .
Ryczow was parish seat in 19th century and there are no records in State Archives from this village... So my advise is the same as I gave Islay.

Thanks Zenon. Disappointing, but we're planning a trip there in May. Maybe I'll write to the pastor and hope for the best

Hi Zenon
Just thought I'd drop a line about our visit to Ryczow.
We emailed the priest before we left. With our English speaking guide, we found the parish and priest. What a pleasure!. Even tho he didn't speak English, nor I much Polish, we had a great time. He pulled the ledgers off the shelve in the rectory and produced my grandfathers birth and baptismal record. We spent the rest of the day touring the villages, visiting the cemetery, and sharing a meal. He even took pictures of us and put them on a CD for us to take home. We have plans to stay in contact.
Thanks for the inspiration to take this route.
