Barb, to answer your question, I saw the obituary for Leo Hubert Baranski. He died 17 May 2000 and was 84 years old. The only other information listed is the name of his spouse (who is deceased) and his 4 children.

Sophia, very interesting information about the Polish Air Force Headquarters in Blackpool.

Stewart, could there be a natualization record for Leo Hubert Baranski?

No I couldn't find any naturalisation record for him Trish. Re the birth date I must have got it from Findmypast or Ancestry if it wasnt the obituary, can't think where else

Hi Barb,

There is little information on Leo Hubert Baranski's obituary. I am attaching it. I did not find one for his wife. All I know is his wife Jessie died 14 March 1997.

Hi Stewart,

It does not look like the birth date came from the newspaper obituary. When you are collecting data from so many sources, it can be useful to make a notation of where each piece of information came from. I looked at the whole conversation that you are having about Leo Hubert Baranski here:

But I do not see his birth date mentioned there. Perhaps you saw it in some kind of index, where you ordered the death certificate from?

I saw it at MyHeritage. Anyway that's the birth date on his death certificate which I've just received and which annoyingly for his place of birth just says 'Poland'

Geneteka is very frustrating, I still can't find Leo Hubert Baranski there. His death certificate gives his dob as 8th September 1915 and his marriage certificate has his age at 32 on 10th July 1948 which seems to confirm the year of his birth as 1915. His death certificate simply has 'Poland' as place of birth. His name is written as Leo Hubert Baranski on both certificates. Since my last post I have located and contacted one of his sons who says Leo's father was Wladyslaw Baranski b circa 1890 (but I found 5 people with that name for that exact year) and Leo's mother was called Agnieszka but I can't see any marriage with those 2 names in what I thought was a reasonable guess as to its likely time frame 1908-1915. I also found 6 Agnieszka Baranska who'd died between 1918 and 1972 and some have a little italic 'i' next to the name and when you click on it it says 'inne nazwiska' which translates as 'other names' but does it really mean maiden name? I'm going to contact Leo's son again and I wondered if anyone can suggest what questions are best to ask to try and get the correct information from Geneteka?

Did you follow this suggestion to get the licence application or the marriage schedule?
