Post subject: What is the parish for Stropkowo?
Hi,
I have been away from my genealogy search for a year now, focusing on my novel. I need to find out what the parish is for Stropkowo. Someone posted a link to look for this but I don't know what area the town would fall in.
Can anyone help?

I am also researching families in the Jezewo parish; what surnames are you interested in?

Gilberto,
What would I do without you? I am looking for records for the surname Podwojski, any descendants of Jozef Podwojski and Francziska Klobukowska. So far I know there was my grandfather, Anton born 1880 and known siblings Wladislaw born 1879? (could this be Walter here?) , Feliks born 1886 and Magdalena born 1885. There is also an Agathe Podwojski but I don't know how she might be related.
There is a Mary Podwojski that was married to John Majewskie in 1844. She is the probable link to my Podwojski family. I would love to have proof of that link!
Anyway, anything you can find that might be linked to this family, even going back beyond Jozef Podwojski.
Hope this doesn't make your head spin!

I wish I was Jdupon to have access to records that are not online.

I am dumbfounded! How did the two of you come up with this information so fast???
Gilberto, since I am unable to read Polish, is there a way to see actual baptismal records for these Podwojskis? I was unable to pull any of them up from familysearch.org but am not exactly a power user so may not have been looking in the right place.
Felicia
Should I be taking this to a new post?

The records that I used to find your ancestors is one that I have compiled over many years of reading microfilms and is my own collection.
Yet (Gilberto!!) I am always happy to share. I will survey the records that I have in this vicinity for connected familiies and post what I find.

Thank you! Do you have a record of what microfilm they were on? That way I could request it from LDS.

I'll put together a list of the relevant available films for Jezewo --- to my knowledge, they are not yet online.
BTW, do you have family that lived in New Jersey? I have references to Podwojski in marriage records at St Anthony of Padua in Jersey City between 1905 - 1910.

There are a lot of Podwojskis on the east coast and in Michigan but as far as I know all my ancestors went to Ohio. If they are connected it is probably far back in the family tree. I'm wondering how far back records go. From what I've seen the surname comes from a church office from the medieval period. I found a reference to a podvoisky Navar being part of an envoy in Russia during the 1400s! For that matter my family may have its roots in Russia. I'm hoping to find if I am related to Nikolai Podvoisky who played a large part in the Russian Revolution of 1917. Some project, huh?

Two references to Podwojski at St Anthony of Padua, Jersey City; I've found that there were many immigrants who "stopped off" in Jersey City (to extended family, perhaps), then migrated to more permanent stations, e.g. Michigan or Ohio or PA.
16 Oct 1892, Antoni Kaminski, age 24, son of Franciszek and Antonina Podwojska, married Marta Chra, tkowska, age 19.
10 Jun 1900, Franciszek Trapkowski, son of Jan and Julianna Podwojska, age 25, married Maryanna Ruszkowska, age 18.
18 Jun 1905 Wladyslaw Tropkowski, son of Jan and Maryanna Podwojska, age 23 married Maryanna Lewandowska.
14 Sep 1910, Jozef Gornicz married Helena Krysinska, age 19, daughter of Franciszek and Katarzyna Podwojska.

Thanks so much! If I had the time I would try to track all the Podwojskis to try to see if there are common ties. But it's hard enough to try to track my own closer ancestors!
