Hello Sharon:

Very exciting to see someone who is researching the same village in Poland. My grandfather (Jozef Tracz - born 1890) and grandmother (Zofia Laskowicz - born 1893) were born in Niwka. My grandfather immigrated to Detroit in 1910, and my grandmother in 1914.

Many of the young people from Niwka immigrated to Detroit, and also to Reading, PA. In reviewing your grandfather's baptism record (attached), we share many of the same family names (Dulian, Kedzior, Bogusz). I also have Pochron and Koziol family members from Niwka.

I am in contact with family members in Niwka, and have located the old Tracz family farm in Niwka which one of my aunts currently lives on.

Not sure if you are still working on this, so let me know.

Dzień dobry Jim! How wonderful to hear from you and at such an appropriate time! I am in Poland! With family found last year on my Polish Origins trip! I am excited to hear your news about possible family connections - what a wonderful world! And wonderful people. I will be meeting with my Niwka relatives this coming week. I was able to search church records last year with the help of Lucjan from Polish Origins and have other family names I can share with you. I will check back in here in a day or so and provide an update. Currently I am visiting with the Gdowski's side of the family which includes Boryszyka's and I believe there is a Kedzior in the lineage as well. Exciting news!
