Post subject: Rdzawka near Rabka in the district of Nowy Targ
I recently came across an article "Jobs in factories lift Polish peasants" that was published in 1965 in the "Chicago Tribune" and mentions the following names: Mrs. Bronislawa Czyszczon, sister-in-law of Stanislaw Caparek of Chicago; Ms Jozefa Rapacz, niece of Hnnorath Hrapusta of Chicago; and Mrs. Helena Zajac and her brother Franciszek Filas whose aunt is Rozalia Chwala of Chicago. It also shows pictures of Bronislawa Czyszczon, Jozefa Rapacz, and Helena Zajac. It might be interesting to those who have ancestors in Rdzawka near Rabka.

Hi Ute,
It was not clear in your posting why the information would be interesting to those with ancestors in Rdzawka....did the article state that this was their home village? These surnames are interesting because several of them are also found in Odrowaz.

Shellie,
The article states that Bronislawa Czyszczon, Jozefa Rapacz, and Helena Zajac are villagers of Rdzawka whose relatives live in Chicago. I assume that Rdzawka is the home village of all of them, unless they moved there when they married.
It also shows a picture of Henryk Kocot, a coal miner, 35 years old in 1965 (who has a sister in Chicago) and his father standing in front of his house near Crzanow east of Krakow.
The article focuses on the economic situation in this region at the time. I found it in the Chicago Tribune Historical Archive. Unfortunately, it is copyright protected, otherwise I would post it here, but if someone is interested in it I can e-mail a copy of it.

Yes! I would like a copy of the article, as Helena Zajac is a possible relative.
