Hi Andreas,

Here are some links to Gimpertowicz & Tomczak records to get your research started. Since Andrzej Gimpertowicz & Agnieszka Tomczak married in German Poland (The Province of Posen) on February 8, 1886 Agnieszka could not have left for America in 1885. It is certain that they are the correct couple. Gimpertowicz is not a very common surname.

Wishing you success in your research,

Dave

Hello Andreas,

I found naturalization papers for Konstanty. Not sure if you have them or not. See attached.

His papers indicate he was born in the Russian part of Poland. The village written in the record seems to read Petrofce but I cannot find a village with that name. Perhaps others on the forum can look at the document and offer some suggestions.

All the best,
Cynthia

Hi Andreas,

After I posted yesterday I realized that there are restrictions on the Family Search images and that you would not be able to access them via the links. Attached are copies of the images. To followup on the additional indexed names of relatives the images are attached. Most of the records can be accessed in the States online but a record which your grandson could look for in Poland would be the birth of Szymon Gimpertowicz (Gempertowicz) and the marriage record of his parents (Roch & Barbara) as well as other records which pertain to them and their children.

The village Cynthia found for the place of birth of Konstanty sounds like a quasi-Russian spelling. There are too many villages with names which would sound similar in Polish to make for a viable guess as to the actual village name. Another avenue of approach would be to look for info in church records in the US. Since his children were born in Bethlehem PA that could be a good place to research. Often marriage and or baptism records from Polish churches in the US contain place info from Europe. There were two Polish churches in Bethlehem, St. Stanislaus Roman Catholic and Ascension Polish National Catholic. (The Polish National Catholic Church was started as a breakaway from RC parishes around the turn of the century.)

Wishing you success,

Dave
