Post subject: Family Search article about Polish Records
The FamilySearch site has an article that discusses Polish records, including church records. I have not yet read it all - but I've pasted a screen shot of the contents
I, too, have not read it all but I would like to point out:
- records in Russian were mandatory from June 1868 on (not April)
- even so, some priests made copies in Latin and in Polish (my grandfather and his sisters, in Raciazek, KP, for instance)
- Archiwum Panstwowe do not forward researcher's request to the USCs (my own experience)
No doubt the article is highly valuable to those who are starting in genealogy or have never viewed a LDS microfilm.
