325 years ago on September 12, 1683 the united army of Polish-Austrian-German Christian coalition led by King of Poland Jan III Sobieski defeated the Islamic invader, Ottoman Empire army, commanded by Grand Vizier Merzifonlu Kara Mustafa Pasha.

Crucial role in the victory played Polish Husaria - Winged Hussars. You can watch videos about Winged Hussars here: http://polishorigins.com/document/history_videos/page/6 and http://polishorigins.com/document/history_videos/page/7 .

Victory in this battle of Christian Europe over the Muslim forces was the historic end of the expansion into Europe of the Islam and Ottoman Empire.

More about Battle of Vienna you will find here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Vienna

I am just after listening audio version of 2/3 of the novel Victoria by Cezary Harasimowicz. I was just almost literally moved to the 17th century... Now I am going to buy a book to read rest of the novel. History, passion, realistic pictures, love and even samples of tough negotiations and international diplomatic intrigues which were used more than 300 years ago... If you read any book of Henryk Sienkiewicz I am sure you will love this book too Exclamation

Unfortunately, for those of you who do not speak English you will have to either wait for English version of the book or for movie production. There are plans for great, most expensive in Polish cinematography history, film production. For the moment, you can read a little about the book and film production plans as well as listen to beautiful music on the official website: www.victoria-film.com and in publisher's note: http://victoria-film.com/pdf/publisher_note.pdf
