Post subject: Polish church books for Lipno post-1914
Hello,
I have a few questions and topics that I would be grateful to learn more about.
Over the past few months I've had success researching my mother's side of my tree, which derives from the "Vistula Germans" who lived near the Vistula River in Poland. They lived in Lipno County, Kujawsko-Pomorskie, primarily in the town of Jasien but also in Jastrzebie and Rumunki Jasienskie, as well as Karolewo, Orlowo, and Modzerowo (which may be in other counties).
They were ethnic Germans who occasionally intermarried with Poles. From what I've read and found in my research their records appear only in Evangelical Lutheran church books. I thoroughly researched the "Parafii Ewangelicko-Augsburskiej w Lipnie, 1808-1914" (Lipno's Evangelical church book) available via metryki.genealodzy.pl, and had great success doing so. I likewise found records in the Dobrzyn nad Wisla Evangelical book (Parafii Ewangelicko-Augsburskie Filiał w Dobrzyniu n/Wisłą).
My problem: the Lipno book only covers 1808-1914, Dobrzyn 1837-1913. I've seen someone who acquired scans from the Lipno book of the 1920s, but can't seem to find where it and others may be available. Is anyone familiar with researching this area or just Polish church books post-1914 in general? I wouldn't be surprised if this has something to do with the onset of WWI..? Would love to learn more.

Post subject: WWII-era Kujawsko-Pomorskie province
Related info and another question.
So at the moment my tree is stalled at the generation born in the early 1900s, which is when my great-grandparents were born. I'm told one set lost their lives to the Soviet army during its westward march through Poland and east Germany, leaving my grandfather orphaned; the other fled to West Germany and immigrated with my grandmother to the US in the 1950s.
Does anyone know of documentation specifically for the war period of 1939-1945 in the Kujawsko-Pomorskie province? (I think this area is sometimes referred to as West Prussia prior to and during WWII.) Or if such a thing exists? Until now I've found only a note in some sort of German publication on a great-uncle who died in Modzerowo, Sept. 1939, presumably at the outset of the German-Polish conflict. (For the record, I'm told that my ancestors were simply civilians living in Poland at this time; they were farmers living in small villages, of generations where parents were in their 30s and 40s and their children were too young to be soldiers.) Another researcher noted that one of my great-uncles died in Jasien in 1945, and that German men in the area were killed when the war ended. Is anyone familiar with aspects of this history for this area in Poland? I've found little beyond numbers on the expulsion of Germans in Poland. Would appreciate any related info.

I have just made phone call to the Registry Office in Lipno town and they told me they store the evangelic parish church books from 1919 fo 1945.
Documents from 1914-1919 are in the state archives in Wloclawek town.
Documents from 1945 and later are stored in Lipno evangelic parish office. _________________ My translations are voluntary, but they take a lot of time and effort, so whenever you want to send money it will be a very nice "Thank you" gift to me.
THANK YOU

You should contact the archives of the city of Yaseen and Karolyovo. They store most of the information about marriages and population censuses. You may not find the original documents, but some entries in the village books will help you. When I was looking for the history of my surname, the archive staff helped me a lot and even provided me with a photocopy of pages from the documents on the census of houses in the city. These searches helped me to understand that even my ancestors were close to God, and I turned to First Church Love. I hope you will find the information about the relatives you are looking for. Good luck!
