Post subject: Visiting and researching Lutcza, Kolbusowa, Trzesn and Plock
Hello,
My husband and I are planning our second trip to Poland in May, 2016. I am an avid researcher and writer and have seen that the experts on this board are extremely knowledgeable. I was able to find my husband's grandmother's birth records from Lutcza just today because of a link you provided
I will first start with a broad request for any advice as we begin our plans for travel. We were in Krakow for a week and visited an ancestral village there but the other towns are closer to Warsaw so we will likely do this itinerary:
Fly into Warsaw and spend a few days
Travel to Kolbuszowa and either stay there or in Rzeszow.
Travel to Lutcza and then drive to Plock, see Malbork Castle, Gdansk and then head back to Warsaw for a flight back home.
We will likely spend a week in Poland. BTW- we are taking an incredibly inexpensive transatlantic cruise to Barcelona first. Cheaper than a flight!
I am perhaps going to hire a translator who understands how to search genealogy records. I have the FHC microfilm on permanent loan from Niwiska which covers Kolbuszowa and Trzesn. I am going to review it again and then clean up my spreadsheet and make it available. I only listed my possible ancestors- not the whole book... My eyes have limits...
So, if you have any thoughts or suggestions for me to make either my genealogy research more effective or my trip more beneficial, please let me know.
BTW- I know almost no Polish, but will be working on the very basics and really don't have any contacts with relatives in Poland. I sure wish I did!
Thank you in advance!
