Post subject: Emigrants from the district of Nowy Targ
When I started researching my Polish ancestors many years ago I didn't know yet that official records are often incorrect regarding spelling of names and locations and that they should be interpreted with this in mind. Like many of us, I struggled with misspelled, distorted, and incomplete given, family, and place names in genealogical records for years until I finally found out that my paternal grandfather's parents came from the villages Dlugopole and Banska in the district of Nowy Targ.
In order to find more ancestors and possible connections between the families who had the same family name in this particular region, I searched all available databases on the Internet not only by the names I was researching, but also by close by villages, and made indexes of villagers who temporarily or permenantly emigrated to the United States.
The most comprehensive and up-to-date index is that of the village Dlugopole near Czarny Dunajec that I just completed. You'll find it under the topic "Dlugopole near Czarny Dunajec in the district of Nowy Targ":
