Multiple records state that my great-grandfather, Josef Długaszewski was from Rzewin. When I Google map it all I see is this tiny village northwest of Warsaw. Is there any information on this city?

Hi,

Rzewin is a village with a current population of 324 inhabitants. A description of the village as it was during the late 19th and early 20th Centuries is found at this link http://dir.icm.edu.pl/pl/Slownik_geograficzny/Tom_X/156
The highlights of the description are that it was a village and manorial farmstead (folwark) located on the Raciążnica River. It had 47 houses with a population of 478. In 1827 it had 30 houses and a population of 245. It had a public house/inn/tavern and a windmill. The attached map from the early 20th Century shows its location. That it was at the intersection of two roads was a likely reason that it had a public house. It belonged to the Roman Catholic parish of Baboszewo.

Wishing you success in your research,

Dave
