Post subject: Wytlib
Is Wytlib a Polish name. To me it sounds more like a German name.
Is anyone able to see whether the name ist Wytlib in the Russian document because I am somewhat unsure whether Wytlib ist the name.
Magdalena from Genealodzy Pl is also unsure if the surname is Wytlib or Wiklipówna
Magdalena wroted His father was Antoni Spławski married to Dorota Wiklipówna (Wytlib?) in 1820, in Dobrów,
This is the translation of the marriage between Ignacy and Jozefa.

Hello Gilberto
In Genealodzy. Pl - general dicusiion (English) - Splawski and Dabrowska from Dobrów Great Poland.
There are two documents
1. Ignacy Spławski was born in Dobrów in 1840, akt 51
2. The wedding of Antoni Spławski and Dorota Wytlib.
I am not able to read the surname of Dorota. In akt 51 I read the name as Doroty Wiettibow?
In the document of the wedding is it very difficult to read the surname of Doroty

I, too, read Wiklipówna. This ending -owna is/was a declensioned form for feminine surnames. Recentely a member of this forum posted a link about this subject, but I cannot find the link again. Still about declensioned forms: there it is written Dorotą.

Hi, Zenon
Just as good as, though it wasn't any of these one. I think it was posted either by Jozefs or Henryk. Can't really recall.

I would say Wiklipówna daughter of Wiklip. However, in both attached scans I can see only Wytilb surname. Can you upload the akt 51 you are referring or give us a link to it?

W księgach metrykalnych Akt małżeństwa No 6/1820 Ruszków poprzedzony jest wpisami dwóch zapowiedzi małżeństwa. Wstaw skany tych zapowiedzi – może tam nazwisko będzie czytelnie wpisane.
In the books of vital records Marriage No 6/1820 Ruszków is preceded by two entries, the announcement of marriage. Insert scans of the announcement - there may be legibly typed name.
- = - = -
Today - the Russian letter "ы" = Latin letter "y"
In the past - the Russian letter "ы" = Latin letter "e"
Thus, the Russian "Вытлиб" can be translated: Wytlib, Wetlib or Wietlib. Depends who translates from Russian.
But properly is Wytlib.
