The first legal regulations concerning the population register come from the times of the Duchy of Warsaw (royal decree of January 18, 1810, instruction of the Minister of Internal Affairs) and the Kingdom of Poland (order of the Governor of January 27, 1818, regulations of the Minister of Internal Affairs of 1818 and instruction on forming, keeping and maintaining the books of the population of November 22, 1861). On the basis of the instructions from 1861, registration books were kept until the end of 1931. From the next year until the end of the 1950s, the population records were kept on the basis of: the ordinance of the President of the Republic of Poland of March 16, 1928 on records and control of population movement ( Journal of Laws, No. 32, item 309), Regulation of the Minister of Internal Affairs of October 16, 1930 on population registers and registers (Journal of Laws, 84, item 1930, as amended), instructions of the Minister of Internal Affairs of November 27, 1930 on keeping the register of residents (MP, No. 291, item 411) and the Ordinance of the Minister of Internal Affairs of May 12, 1931 on the register of population movements (Journal of Laws, No. 47, item 409). _________________ My translations are voluntary, but they take a lot of time and effort, so whenever you want to send money it will be a very nice "Thank you" gift to me.
