Hi Kristina,
The information that you provided about Jan Brzostek's birth - is it from his birth record, baptism certificate perhaps?

Can you tell us anything about the children of your grandfather Jan Brzostek? Did any of them go the the United States?
And his siblings - do you know whether Jan Brzostek had any siblings? Are there any other details, including family stories or legends that might provide us with some hints?

hi there. my grandfather was a policeman in poland and subsequently joined the army. He married my grandmother in the uk and fathered 3 children here in england, one of them being my mother. none of them went to the united states. i dont really have any other details apart from his military records i have from the ministry of defence here in the uk as the polish were under british command. it states that he was born in kochow, poland and his mothers maiden name was katarzyna drewnik and his father michal brzostek. this is my only source of info and that from his death certificate and marriage certificate, thankyou for asking.

Kristina,

Your grandfather's Kochów is located here (point B): http://bit.ly/eWzuzi . It was also seat of the parish so you should focus now on looking for birth record of him and any of other children of Michał Brzostek and Katarzyna Drewnik in the parish of Kochów records. Because he was born in 1912, according to Polish law the records should be available in 2012 (if only any exist). In Polish State Archives there are no records from this parish so they may be kept locally in Kochów church or in Diocese Archives, in this case most probably in Warsaw.

Hi Kristina. Your grandfather had 3 brothers: Józef, Władysław, Grzegorz. I'm Józef grandson, and I live in Poland. If you want to know more message me.
Regards,
Robert
