Post subject: 1858 Marriage Record Translation from Polish
Could anyone translate this marriage record for me into English? Or at least identify names to confirm that this is the marriage record for Rocha Szewczyńska, daughter of Aron and Pesza, who married Icko z Boruch Kanowicz, son of Boruch and Frejya, in 1858 in Przerośl?
Thank you,
Jessica

Hi Jessica,
The document is not a marriage record. It is the birth record of Abram, son of Ozier Lejbowicz Kalwaryjski.
Sorry that it is not what you are looking for.

Thank you Dave
Perhaps I selected the wrong index number.
Thank you for correcting my mistake!

So You do not need this document to be translated?

No, I do not want this record translated at this time.
If I can locate the correct record I will post it here for translation.
Thank you!

Hi Jessica,
I see what the issue is. You want the 10th marriage from that year, right? The record you pulled was the 10th birth, instead.
Here is how that book is organized. There are records of births (listed sequentially as they occurred), followed by an index of births on Scan #11. Next are the sequential records of marriages, followed by an index of marriages on Scan #18. Last are the sequential records of deaths, followed by an index of deaths.
You can go to the scans that preceed the index of marriages and look for the 10th one. In this case, it is on Scan #17. It fills the entire left page.
This should help you navigate other books of records.
Best of luck in your search,
Sophia

Thank you Sophia! I think that will be very helpful, especially as I speak no Polish or Russian at all!
