Anyone know where a village of HAMER or Homer is? I am presently working mid-1700's records from Szaflary area (Podhale Region) and found this reference. I don't see it on any maps. Any help greatly appreciated. Zamagurie

I believe it is Hamri. Prior to 1918 it was located in Trstena jaras (district), Arva megye (county), Austria-Hungary, present day Slovakia. The village is no longer extant. It was flooded along with others in 1954 when the Communists built a hydroelectric dam on the Orava River. Here is a link to a 1912 map of Arva county http://lazarus.elte.hu/hun/maps/1910/arva.jpg Hamri is downriver from Jablonka.

Church records would be found in the village of Usztya.

Sorry, I don't know a thing about the whereabouts of the actual records.

Good luck in your search.
