Post subject: Pazehoski or Parzuchowski (Updated)
My great grandfather came over from Poland in the early 1900's. Our surname, Pazehoski, was shortened from its original Polish spelling during the immigration process. Unfortunately, my grandparents have all passed. I had thought that no one in my family knew the original spelling or history of the name. I thought that it was a big mystery (as I've done some asking around about this before). Well, apparently it's not as big of a mystery as I thought.
My family had the original spelling written down in a Bible. It came from my grandfather (the son of my great grandfather that came over from Poland). Supposedly it was Parzuchowski. My great grandfather's name was Stanley W. Parzuchowski. He came over in 1912 and was born in the 1880's. As far as we know, he had one brother that came over with him, Vincent. We don't know of any other Parzuchowski's that came over with them.
I can't seem to find many historical records for the name. I do, however, find a large population in the US with that surname. It seems there's a large group of people with that surname based out of Detroit and the surrounding areas.
I'm going to try to get in touch with them to see if we can find a connection.
At any rate, any input on the surname and it's origins?

Have you tried http://www.ellisislandrecords.org/ or http://www.ancestry.com/ ? There should be somewhere trace of your great-grandfather and her father arrival to the New World. I entered Parzuchowski in the Ellis Island page and I get two matches, one of them is Wincenty Parzuchowski who arrived in the States in 1910 from Rudinez (?) - click here: http://tinyurl.com/5e4trw to see the search results.
