Post subject: Need help locating parish
Hi,
Can someone please help me locate the correct parish church for
Anielin, Puławy County, Lublin
I am searching for the birth / baptismal record for Andrzej Sopka, born 23 Nov 1888-89. Father is Szczepan.
I can’t find it in any of the databases, so I think I will need to contact either the parish or the archives.
.
Thanks,
Cynthia

Hei Cynthia,
It looks like it is parish St. Józef Oblubieniec in Zarzecze.

Barb, thanks for the reply, but I doubt that is the parish church. Can anyone look it up in the Polish parish reference book?

Hi Cynthia,
It looks like Świeciechów:

Hi Sophia,
Thanks for your reply…. Again not sure that is the correct parish. Andrzej was born in Anielin in Pulawy county Lublin.
The link you provided doesn’t seem to be in that county of Lublin… unless I am missing something in reading it… quite possible…

Cynthia, I can call the Lublin Archdiocesan Archives tomorrow and ask which parish church the village of Anielin belonged to.

Thanks Barb…. Kind of you to offer. Also ask where I can find the 1888-89 birth records for Anielin, Pulowy, Lublin…. In case the church doesn’t want to get involved.
Best,
Cynthia

Hi,
I called 4 times, and each time I was connected to a new person. Nobody was able to answer me. When the fourth said I could check it online I was irritated. I asked simple questions, and they didn't know anything about Anielin. Will call again tomorrow. They promised to look into it.

What a wonderful resource, Sophia. Then it looks like it is the parish of Gora Pulawska. Located about 9 km. from Anielin.

Thanks, Barb, I do turn to it now and again.
I would just add, Cynthia, that you might reconsider looking at the parish in Świeciechów.
Here is a link to a birth of Andrzej Sobka (note the small change in spelling of the surname) in 1889. I cannot read Russian, so I cannot tell if the birth date is 23 November, but I can see that his father is Szczepan. It is Akt #132.

Sophia,
That’s it! Thank you so much! And many thanks to you Barb for all of your efforts and clues. It really does take a village sometimes to dig into these brick walls. Sophia, I just found additional Canadian and US documents that confirm this location. Also good to know the Polish spelling of his surname!
Thank you again - you ladies are super-sleuths!
Best,
Cynthia
