I have attached the 1890 marriage record between Alois Gotz and Marcjanna Wojtowicz from Krakow. I am trying to confirm the name of the town where she was from. The record reflects Alois was from Slawkow, which I know is referring to Slavkov u Brna (Austerlitz) in the present-day Czech Republic. It looks like her information reflects she was from "Winiary," which could refer to a village in Proszowice County (Malopolskie). Does this look like "Winiary"? Could it be another name? The location I have identified does not have any records for Macjanna Wojtowicz (B. 23 Dec 1864). Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hello,

I see the towns as Sławków (the “l” is slashed if you look closely), and Winiary. There are two villages with the name Winiary, one which you mention, and another in Gmina Gdow to the south of Krakow. Here is a Google map

https://www.google.com/maps/dir/Winiary,+Proszowice+County,+Poland/Sławków,+Poland/Winiary,+Gdów,+Poland/@50.1405479,19.7494896,9z/data=!4m11!4m10!1m2!1m1!1s0x4717b424a4b6bd8f:0xb5b8f8a29d6ee7e!1m2!1m1!1s0x4716ddc1d9c4d7e7:0xb9038c8916d41bc0!1m2!1m1!1s0x47166b6bf85103fb:0x4177e162a70b1347!3e0

I will let others add to or correct my take on this.

Hi,
for me it also looks like Winiary. Cynthia mentioned Gmina Gdów, here you can see some additional info https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Winiary,_Wieliczka_County

I found the birth record for Marcjanna http://windaki.pl/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/Winiary-akty-urodzen-1831-1872-poprawny.pdf page 10

Marcjanna Zuzanna, born Dec 23, 1864. Address: Winiary 14. Father: Józef Wójtowicz (his parents are Sebastian Wójtowicz and Agnieszka Jamka). Mother: Marianna Zając (her parents are Marcin Zając and Józefa Król).

There is also birth record for Marcjanna's sister, Aniela born Jan 6, 1868

For further research you should check this indexes:
Winiary birth 1831-1872 http://windaki.pl/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/Winiary-akty-urodzen-1831-1872-poprawny.pdf (mentioned before)
Dziakanowice marriage 1784-1915 http://windaki.pl/wp-content/uploads/2017/12/Dziekanowice-parafia-cala-akty-malzenstw-od-1784-okolo-1915-r.-bz.pdf
and others for Dziekanowice (that was the parish for Winiary) http://windaki.pl/metryki/
You should also check records for Gdów and nearby parishes https://geneteka.genealodzy.pl/index.php?op=gt&lang=eng&bdm=S&w=06mp&rid=8680&search_lastname=w%C3%B3jtowicz&search_name=sebastian&search_lastname2=&search_name2=&from_date=&to_date=&near=1&rpp1=&ordertable=

I think that scans are not available online but with this records you will be able to find many of your ancestors up to 1800.

Good luck with your research!

Thanks Monika. I had found the indices you mentioned. This is great! Definitely the right family. Wish I could get copies of the original documents but as you say they don't appear to be online at this time. Bob
