Post subject: Helena Wozniak *1897
Good evening from Germany,
i got the hin, that here are some helpful persons that may help me with a family inquiry for my polish family branch.
Helena Zygward (or Sigwarth/Sygward or similar), born 1897 in Chorzeszow to Nikolai and Emilia Zygward married 1922 in Mikolajewice Mr. Walenty Wozniak.
During my research i found informations, that they had children Janina (born 1923, died 1924) married to Mr. Wosik,
Anna (born 1925, died 1998) married to Mr. Ignacy Zagrzewski, and third child (no name/datas) married to Mr. Dabek.
But i do not have any places, where they were born, married or died.
Do someone of you know one of those person that may help me, finding the DEATH DATE and PLACE of Helena (maiden Zygward/Sigwart/Sygward) ?
I am searching since years for her, even if i got so many details, i was not able yet to find those informations.
Your help is highly appreciated
Any hint helps.
Greetings
Robin Siegwarth

Hi Robin,
I understand how challenging your search is. Many cemeteries in Poland are not included on websites like findagrave.com which makes it more difficult.
Helena’s surname at birth is extremely rare. I see the name as Zygwart most of the time, but also Zygward and Sigward. There are still people with the Zygward surname living in Łódż, as shown on this surname distribution map:
https://nazwiska-polskie.pl/Zygward
They might be descendants of Helena’s brother Stefan (see below). You could try contacting cemeteries in Łódż, to ask if any Zygward/Zygwart graves are there. If you find one, you can also ask about a grave for Helena Wozniak.
I understand that you are not asking for copies of vital records, but I will include them here because it is a good way to show how the surname was spelled. Most of the time, it was Zygwart. I see one instance of Zygward and one instance of Sigward. These records are all from the church in Mikolajewice. I think it may also be good for you to contact that church, to ask about Helen's death.

hi,
many thanks for your reply. Geneteka is realy a great help and allowed me, to find most of my family members from that polish branch, also those you posted.
i do know, that during the time of 1939-1945 one family branch settled over to Olsztyn.
You might be right, that those Zygwart`s in Lodz are children from brothers of Helena. Is there any chance to check a phonebook or something else what their first names are ? so i might get in touch with them.

Sorry, Robin. The privacy laws in Poland are strict. I do not think there is any on-line directory, like dastelefonbuch.
