Welcome to the Forum Richard,

Lub-; Lubiński Slavic root lub- "love, liking", or dithematic names (names made up of two elements) with this root, e.g. Lubomir. Also common in toponyms: Lubiński from the town Lubin in Legnica province or Lubiń in Leszno province.

Or:

Łub-; Łubiński from old Polish łuba, "tree-bark".

In 2002 there were 1801 people by the surname Lubiński and 690 by the surname Łubiński living in Poland. Detailed maps of the surnames' deployment can be found on the website here (Lubiński) https://nazwiska-polskie.pl/Lubi%C5%84ski and here (Łubiński): https://nazwiska-polskie.pl/%C5%81ubi%C5%84ski . There is also variation of the surname (not typical for Polish language without Polish letters) Lubinski: https://nazwiska-polskie.pl/Lubinski .

In 19th century there wasn't any Lubiński nor Łubiński nobleman, however there were three Lubiański noble families.
