Hello Monika
Thank you for your reply. I have located some possible new info on my Nana. I have attached some screen shots from Ancestry thru distant cousin's findings. I am not sure if this is accurate. Her birthday looks correct - Jan 9, 1891. I was born on her birthday she always told me. Then the location of Hermagor, Carinthia, Austria. That one is a mystery as she told me that she was born in Poland. I have attached both their naturalization documents and marriage certificate. As you can see my grandfather's surname has several spelling variations. I have a bit more info on him as another distant cousin contacted me several years ago and it seems we are related thru 3rd great-grandparent and she actually went over to Austria to their village and did some research with her sibling. He was from Oryszkowce which is a village now known as Oryshkivtsi in western Ukraine. I wish my Nana's side had this much information. As far as my Nana's brother Thomas, all I can remember is he lived in Hamtramck, Michigan. We visited with my Nana when I was small. I have sent a 3-4th cousin from his family a note thru Ancestry but have not received a reply as of yet. I checked Family Search and the Thomas listed in Bay City, Michigan I do not think is my relative. I know for sure they lived in Hamtramck on Lumpkin St. And the relatives on the Ancestry screen shot that I have attached are names that I remember from my Mom telling me about her cousins'. Thank you for your interest and help, but may I ask is this your hobby or do you work in this field? My nephew has researched my paternal side, which was detailed but a bit easier as they came over on the Mayflower. My maternal side, well it seems they are a mystery. I also do know that my grandfather I believe came over in 1911 on the Lincoln thru Ellis Island. It's just been very frustrating trying to find my Nana. She I swear is in stealth mode! She and I were very close. I was her youngest grandchild and I mentioned she lived with us until I was 11. We remained very close until her passing at 94. Again thank you for any information you can give me. I can't seem to get Thomas' info to attach so the basics are: Born 1887 - Poland Marriage: Anna Bowrowicz Children: Stephen, Marion, Mildred and Alonia Death: 1966 - Hamtramck, Michigan |

I am trying to research my maternal grandparents. Michael Myska and Tatijiana Jezewski. I have some information on my grandfather but can find absolutely nothing on my Nana. So, I would like to concentrate on any information I can obtain on her. I do know that she had a brother Thomas who immigrated to Michigan and possibly a brother named Peter. Her father's name was Sylvester Jezewski and mother's name was Mary Krardasz. This information came from their marriage certificate dated 1915 in Fall River, Massachusetts. Census states they were from Austria one year and then listed as speaking Ukrainian. My Nana would tell me that all her records were burned in a fire as far as immigration and that she lost her birth certificate "on the boat". I do have their Naturalization document. I believe her birth date is Jan 9, 1891. I cannot find her on any manifest coming to the United States. I would really like to know where she came from. If she had other siblings that remained in Austria. Just any information at all on her. She lived with us from the time I was born until we moved from Massachusetts to Florida in 1971. I wish now that I had asked her more questions. Hindsight is a funny thing! Any help is appreciated. |

Hi again,
I think that I found something that could possibly relate to your family 1. Thomas Jezewski and his family in Michigan https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61903/1:1:X79L-2M6 According to this census his wife Anna was born in Poland ab. 1891 and his oldest son Steven was also born in Poland in 1913 2. In 1913 Anna Izowska (20 years old) travels with her son Stefan (9 months) to her husband Tomasz in Fall River. Last place of residence - Dźwinogród, Austria. Race - Ruthenian https://heritage.statueofliberty.org/passenger-details/czoxMjoiMTAwODI0MDIwMTEzIjs=/czo5OiJwYXNzZW5nZXIiOw==#passengerListAnchor 3. 1910 Tanka Jezowska from Dźwinogród, Austria, 19 yo, to Fall River. I'm not sure, but I think that there is also her father's name: Sylwester Jezowski https://heritage.statueofliberty.org/passenger-details/czoxMjoiMTAxNDk0MDcwMTA3Ijs=/czo5OiJwYXNzZW5nZXIiOw== Dźwinigród is located in Ukraine https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zvenyhorod,_Ternopil_Oblast Try to find birth records for this village to confirm if this is the right place you are looking for. |
