Hi Everyone,
I am helping a friend find information on his family. This is what I know.

Wasil Staruch was born on 21 December 1891 in Buk, Cisna, Poland. This information is per his naturalization record and manifest. His mother on the manifest is listed as Anna. Wasil is on line #7.

Is Buk, Cisna, Poland the correct name of the town? Is there records for this town? Is Wasil the correct spelling of he given name?

His wife, Helen Cygan was born on 15 April 1893 in Cybrazia, Poland, per the naturalization record of Wasil.

I cannot find the correct spelling of the town. Is there records for this town? I did not find a manifest for Helen.

Any help or advice will greatly be appreciated.

Thank you for all your help!
Trish

Hi Trish,
Buk is a village in the administrative district of Gmina Cisna, within Lesko County, Subcarpathian Voivodeship, in south-eastern Poland, close to the border with Slovakia.

Wasyl – (Polish Bazyli), Basilius - typical Russian first name. I think it would be a good idea to see Greek-Cat churches.
I checked parish Cisna (greek-cat). No surname Staruch.

Cybrazia? This is not correct. Don't know where this place is located?
They married in the United States. Is it possible to find a marriage certificate for this couple?

Hi Trish and Barb,
Here is a possible manifest for Helen Cygan. Look at both pages of the manifest, lines 3 and 4. They are going to Scranton, which fits. They are Ruthenian, which fits. Arrival 1913, age 19, so that seems about right. I read their town of origin as Zubracze.

What do you make of it?

Hello everyone!
Thank you Sophia. From Buk to Zubracze is ab. 10 km. I'll see if I can find anything more about her.

Hi Barb,
I received your email with the record. Thank you so very much. I don't know how you found the record. Is there a link for the record?

I did write to the Church in the USA where my friend thinks Wasil was married. I have not heard back from the Church.

Thank you again for your help.

Hi Sophia,
Thank you so much for finding this record. If you think about how they pronounced Cybrazia, I would believe it would be really Zubracze. So this was a great find!

Thank you for your help!
