Post subject: Jadwiga Piatkiewicz death
Via the Geneteka website, finally found the death record of my great great grandmother Jadwiga Piatkiewicz in the Mokowo parish with a scan from the Wloclawek archives; I cannot otherwise decipher the document. So looking for translation assistance.
Thanks
Paul

No.68 Mokówko
It happened in Mokowo on September 9 / 21, 1853 at 10 a.m. Appeared Maciej Grzybyszewski, 40 years old and Antoni Grefkowicz 35 years old, both farmers from Mokówko and they declared Us that yesterday at 11 a.m., died Jadwiga Piątkiewicz, lived with her daughter in Mokówko, from parents of unknown name, spouses Charlewski, 70 years old, wife of Kazimierz Piątkiewicz, who died in Rumunki-Obóz. After convinced myself about the death of Piątkiewicz this act was read to the declarants because the were illiterate.

Thank you Barb
With that translation I now know where my great great grandfather died & also know that they had a daughter in Mokowko. That gave more information than I had hoped for.

Thank you all over again. Jadwiga & Kazimierz's son Mateusz (b. 21 Sep 1823) was my great grandfather. My grandfather was Wladyslaw Piatkowski, b. 19 Aug 1867 from Mateusz's 3rd marriage. Wladyslaw died in 1925 when my father Hippolit was just under 4 years old. My father knew nothing about his father's family. The only clue was a 1911 marriage certificate from Boston, Massachusetts, and in Polish from a Polish Church there, that my father had.

Hi Paul,
In Norbert's birth record, the ages of the parents are given: Kazimierz was 38 years old (born ca. 1774) and Katarzyna 35 years old (born ca. 1777).
Salomea died December 5, 1830 in Źródelskie Rumunki parish Ligowo. She died as Salomea Sierkowska.
Let me know if you need help!

We never have been able to find more information about Kazimierz & Jadwiga's parents or marriage but I have hopes that with all the indexing going on now; they should show up on some of the index's sooner or later. They apparently moved around a bit since Kazimierz was stated to be a shepherd on my great grandfathers birth act so I'm not sure where they'll show up. My great grandfather Mateusz settled, as a farmer, in Dabrowki, near Sierpc which is where my grandfather and all his siblings were born. According to my grandmother he left Poland to "escape the Tsar". Old Tsar, new Tsar, some things never change.

That's an incredible find, discovering your great great grandmother's record! Translating old documents can be quite a challenge. Have you considered reaching out to genealogy forums or local historical societies for help with translations? Also, speaking of honoring family legacies, have you heard about aquamation? It's a more eco-conscious option for funerals. Check out https://greenfarewells.cоm/aquamation/. It gently returns the body to nature using water, heat, and alkalinity. Exploring such alternatives might provide a unique way to cherish the memory of your ancestors while being mindful of the environment.
