I'm trying to find out where my great grandparents are from Poland. Unfortunely, my grandmother and mother have passed on so I do not have any living relatives to give me any information.

My grandmothers name is:

Stella Pauline Pastuck

I believe her parents names and info are:

(Info from ancestry.com)

Peter Pastuck (Pastuch) born JUN 1873
Kathryn Storoniuch (Pastuch) (Starachua) (Starosicka) born around 1885

Immigrated? 1905 or 1908

Children that immigrated with them:
John, Mary, and Olga

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks! I did notice on some American paperwork that some of them spoke Ukrainian but never put it together. Thank you for the help.

The area formerly belonged to Poland. Today it belongs to Ukraine.

Trish, I would read Piotr's last place of residence in Poland as Wola Korzeniecka. The place is not far from the current border between Poland and Ukraine, but far from Drohobycz where daughter Maria was born.

Hi Trish and Barb,
I looked at the manifests. I agree with Wola Korzeniecka for Piotr. However, for the children, if you look at the second page of their manifest, Maria and the others were not born in Drohobycz. It looks like Bircza, to me. And Katarzyna's place of birth is yet a different town. I think the place they came from is in present-day Poland, not Ukraine.
Any ideas?

I did find out that Piotr was born 29 June 1873. He died 16 April 1949 in Millville, New Jersey.

Piotr came once before to the USA. Here is the information for this manifest. He is on line 15. Once again, I need a set of eyes to make out the towns listed.

Again, the surname Chorbach / Chorbacz also appears.

Are you able to find marriage records for the children of Piotr and Katarzyna? Also Maria (Mary), Jan, Karolina. Thinking the years 1920-1940.
It would be interesting to see where they were born.

I have mentioned that the surname Horbacz is to be seen in two Manifests. In it from 1912, Katarzyna states the name of the closest family member from her home country as Anna Horbacz in Wola Korzeniecka. In Manifest from 1905, Piotr says that he is going to visit Michal Horbacz.
I found a marriage record for Michal and Anna from 1901. Anna's maiden name was Starościak. According to this, Anna was born ab. in 1881 in Dębna. I found Anna's birth record in 1881 in the parish of Mrzygłód. Dębna belongs to this parish.
Starościak is also Katarzyna's maiden name. In the first post, SaintedDrew wrote that Katarzyna was born approx. 1885. I can see index from 1885 - Katarzyna Starościak Dębna parish Mrzygłód. It appears that Anna and Katarzyna are sisters. Or cousins. Unfortunately, I cannot see the names of Katarzyna's parents. While Anna's parents were Jan Starościak and Marianna Biega.

Here are the dates of birth for the children that were born in Poland. I am not sure if this will help you find a record for them.

I too saw Michal's manifest and his wife was Anna. It is great that you made the connection between Anna and Katarzyna.
